It was recently confirmed that WWE will indeed be introducing the inaugural women’s Royal Rumble match during the pay-per-view of the same name next month. The match had been rumored online for quite some time, and the announcement was finally made by Stephanie McMahon on Raw this past Monday night. Naomi recently declared that she will be the first entrant into the match, and it looks like she will be joined by 29 other women. Cageside Seats reports that, much like the Royal Rumble match for the men, the women’s match will include 30 entrants. The number has not been confirmed by WWE yet, but this leaves room for plenty of surprises and possible NXT entrants if it turns out to be true.
With only a few years of her career behind her, Alexa Bliss has already set quite an impressive number of records in WWE. She is the first woman to capture the Raw and Smackdown Women’s Championships and she has held both titles on several different occasions (not to mention her historic match against Sasha Banks in the Middle East as well). As if those records weren’t impressive enough, Bliss is now the longest reigning Raw Women’s Champion in history. Since the title was established as WrestleMania 32 last year, the longest reigning champion had been held by Charlotte Flair at 113 days. As of today, Bliss has topped the record at 114 days.
Madusa (also known as Alundra Blayze) was a pioneer in women’s wrestling back in the day, and she has had a renewed relationship with WWE ever since she was inducted into the Hall of Fame back in 2015. She even had her own documentary, Trailblayzer, premiere on the WWE Network earlier this year. Madusa recently revealed through her Instagram account that she was undergoing knee surgery. In an update posted earlier today, Madusa said, “I had staples the first time this time he used glue and what a big difference. Everything is checking out GREAT! A few tight muscles and tendons but to be expected for a revision Partial of only 5 months to a total knee.” It definitely sounds like Madusa is doing better and is recovering from her surgery.
