Ever since WWE first announced its blockbuster deal to bring Smackdown Live to the FOX network, which officially goes into effect this October, there has been a ton of speculation about the possibility of airing weekly NXT television on FS1.
That speculation went into overdrive when All Elite Wrestling officially confirmed their own television deal, airing Wednesday nights at 8PM ET on TNT, which of course lines up with NXT’s slot on the WWE Network, its current exclusive home for first-run streaming.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, not only has there actually been serious discussions about bringing the NXT brand to television, but those discussions have gone far enough that FOX has begun informing some of their affiliates.
Right now, one idea being discussed is reportedly a two-hour live block on FS1 every Wednesday night at 8PM ET, going head-to-head with AEW’s weekly series on TNT. That means there would obviously be some major changes coming from just about every end, from the production side of having to do a live show every week instead of taping a month at a time at Full Sail, to the creative side of developing said weekly series with twice as much content as they are currently pumping out.
Nothing is official at this point, and plans can always change, but right now this is the working idea according to multiple reports. A start date for NXT on FS1 is unknown at this point.
